Good afternoon Fallingbrook families,

As we celebrate World Teachers’ Day on October 5th, we want to extend our gratitude to our amazing team of educators! Their commitment to fostering a fun and engaging environment inside and outside of the classroom is one of the many reasons Fallingbrook is such a great school.

Every September, as part of the annual OCDSB staffing timelines, enrolment numbers across the District are reviewed to assess whether or not class projections have been met. Student enrollment at Fallingbrook this year is slightly lower than projected. This means that we have a reduction in our teacher staffing allocation and we will need to reorganize our Intermediate classrooms on the French side. We are sorry to say that, based on seniority, Mme. Lucia Castillo and Miss Sarah Sangster are both surplus to the school, and will soon be teaching at a new school. Both of their teaching assignments will be covered internally. 

Our school team has been working through this class reorganization and today we will be contacting all impacted families directly with further information. We understand that a change in classes can be disruptive, and we are committed to ensuring that this transition is as smooth as possible for everyone involved.

Terry Fox Fundraiser Update- The excitement is building for our Terry Fox Run next Thursday, October 9th. Our fundraising efforts for our Terry Fox Run are going well. So far, we have raised a total of $469.30!  Which means we are almost half-way to our goal of $1200. Thank you to all the families who have donated money either at school or online. Every cent counts in the fight against cancer!Please continue to send in Toonies for Terry all of next week or donate to our school's online fundraising page. Halloween Dance- Our PTC is planning a spooktacular Halloween Dance on Oct. 24th from 6-8pm. There will be an awesome DJ playing all your favourite tunes, nut-free baked goods and pumpkin raffle, treats and pizza for sale, a contest for best costume, and more!  We encourage students and parents to come dressed in costumes.  Any realistic looking weapons must remain at home. Parental supervision is mandatory. The admission cost is $10 per family or $5 per person. This is a cash only event (small bills appreciated). We hope to see you there!

Hot Lunch - PTC is launching a NEW hot lunch program in collaboration with Mazzola! Parents now have the option to purchase a hot lunch for their child(ren) every Thursday for the first nutritional break starting on October 9th, with a portion of sales going back to our school. Simply visit https://mazzola.ca/en, create a new account, select "Fallingbrook Elementary School”, add your children, and select the dates and meals you'd like to purchase. Rotating menus to choose from each week, halal and vegetarian options, and fundraising for our school= win, win, win! Please note: students will have to bring their own reusable cutlery on Thursday's for their Mazzola meal.
