Principal's Message

Welcome to Fallingbrook Community Elementary School!

Welcome to the Fallingbrook Community E.S. website! Located in the east end of the city of Ottawa, we are a dual track school offering the English program and the Early French Immersion program to students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. We also offer the specialized program Learning Disability Specialized Intervention Program (LD SIP). Please visit the OCDSB website for more information about this specialized program.

Fallingbrook is a home away from home for approximately 375 students and almost 40 staff members. Our dedicated school team, with the help of committed volunteers, offers a rich academic program, as well as a variety of extracurricular activities in music, sports, and  technology. Fallingbrook promotes a culture of social responsibility by being committed to the environment. Our Earth Club leads many environmental initiatives, such as recycling, reducing waste, and promoting Boomerang (litter-free) lunches. We also have our WE Club that raises awareness around social justice in our community and in the world and organizes fundraisers to lend a helping hand.

Fallingbrook is committed to creating a culture of caring within our community. Character education, as well as equity and inclusion are at the foundation of everything we do. We strive to make our school a safe, respectful, accepting, and caring place for everyone. Building positive and trusting relationships with our students and parents/guardians is very important to us. Our focus in the past couple of years has been on supporting students with self-regulation challenges. All students are encouraged to set high standards of behaviour for themselves, develop positive work habits and become responsible and respectful members of our global community.

Fallingbrook school is dedicated to creating a culture of learning that supports individual student needs and challenges all learners. Our priority this year continues to be Numeracy and supporting students who are struggling in Math. Our focus is on creating the conditions for learning that our students need to be successful in Mathematics, providing support to help bridge the gaps in our students’ learning and challenging our students to extend their mathematical thinking.

Fallingbrook is very fortunate to have such an active parent community that is always there to support student learning and school activities. Parent and community volunteers are present in classrooms, assist with supervision on field trips, are members of our Parent Teacher Council, assist with fundraising, and work collaboratively with teachers and school staff at helping our students achieve their goals.

I look forward to a terrific year and to working with you as a partner in your child's education.  Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
