At Fallingbrook the instrumental music program begins in Grade 7. Students begin playing an instrument in September and are introduced to the rudiments of theory, basic ear training, critical listening, and elements of music. Students participate in two 40 minute classes per week.
Concert band music is introduced in grade 7 at level 0.5 - 1, and level 1 - 2 concert band music in grade 8. Students are strongly encouraged to join the extra-curricular band program, as it provides lots of opportunities to perform at the school and in the community. Grade 8 band rehearses before school and grade 7 band rehearses at recess.
Under the direction of Sue Power, students have many opportunities to perform throughout the year.
